The FDA proposed allowing health claims for the role of soy protein in heart health, concluding that soy protein, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD). A recent CENSORED reported in the journal Metabolism, reaffirms soy's CENSORED-protective benefits: Researchers in Toronto found that adding soy protein, along with increased soluble fiber, to a diet low in saturated fat, lowered "bad"CENSORED levels and maintained "good" CENSOREDlevels in male and female study participants. |
